Eat Fat to Lose It

Written by Paleo Forever

It’s never been harder to lose weight than it is today. Despite the many programs out there to help people, there’s also a lot of misinformation and temptation too. One of the hardest challenges for those looking to lose weight has to be how much bad advice canvasses the public at large. One of the best examples of this is the idea that you need to stop eating fat if you want to lose it.

First of all, our bodies weren’t designed that way. Your ancestors didn’t carve the fat off an animal after they killed it. They ate it because they needed to and because it had a number of health benefits. Our bodies, therefore, are designed to process it.

Furthermore, fat is a great energy source. In fact, it’s a far more efficient choice than the carbohydrates most of us rely on so heavily. Fat is a slow burn that can be used over time. It also won’t shock the system like the experience you get from eating too much sugar or even those pesky refined carbohydrates again.

There’s a reason fat is a part of so many healthy foods your body craves. All kinds of meat are an obvious example, but so are options like avocados, eggs and nuts. Humans weren’t made to eat those foods and somehow leave the fat on the side.

While there’s certainly something to be said for a caloric deficit, that doesn’t mean leaving out healthy fats that  can help you lose weight.
