The Importance of Oligo Synthesis

When you peel back the veil to see what modern science is up to the result can often times be staggering. Sometimes it feels like what science is accomplishing in real life is something far greater than the silver screen could ever capture with the most imaginative science fiction. An example of this is oligo synthesis. Keep reading to see what I mean.

Though many people have never heard of it, oligo synthesis is set to change the world in the near future. It refers to the process of synthesizing the shorter parts of nucleic acid with that of specific chemical sequences.

When this happens, scientist can actually synthesize oligonucleotides from that modified base. From there, scientists can continue manipulating the oligonucletoids in order to conduct authentic experiments that have far-reachign results. Of course, in the near future, synthesized materials could be switched out for the real thing. Purified oligos could be created to replace diseased or damaged versions in an actual human. The result would be an improved report of health almost immediately.

Keep in mind this is just one example of scientists learning how to essentially incite growth, model it and then build a replacement off of it. Applying this same strategy to other arenas could make it very hard for a human to ever die off.

While this may seem like science fantasy more than reality, the truth is it’s somewhere in between: science.
