Women can have heavy periods for a variety of different reasons. Sometimes it may be due to pelvic inflammatory disease while other times it can be due to hormonal imbalances. This can be quite a problem for women to bleed so heavy at times due to the fact that it may cause them to have to stay at home while they are on their period due to bleeding through on their clothes. First, the doctor will examine the area to try and find the problem. Then, he or she may prescribe the woman some type of medication. Usually, this will help fix the problem but if not you can always go back and tell the doctor that the problem is still occurring.
